REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Chidinma Irabor 4/12/2019 10:04 AMI'd say the solutions to the problems make me feel hopeful. In the case of saving/preserving temperate forests, we could easily save them by avoiding mining, hunting, logging etc., and instead plant more trees and advise people to not live in ways that will harm the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Chidinma Irabor 4/12/2019 9:33 AMI would do my best to enlighten them about the dangers of destroying peatlands. Peatlands take a while to form, and they are non-renewable energy sources, they also hold large amounts of CO2 so draining them means boosting climate change. -
Chidinma Irabor 4/12/2019 9:29 AMDoing research on a lot of the topics here have made me realize that there really isn't much time left to stop the permanent effects of climate change. It's quite scary, but I enjoy gaining more knowledge.
