Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Jamie Jacquart 4/24/2019 2:05 PMI really do love this challenge! It has helped me to learn more about my own behaviors as well as new ways that I can make a difference. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/23/2019 1:17 PMI had soup for lunch today. So, OK, I did have 6 crackers with it as well, but I have actually felt full for most of the afternoon and think that I'll actually be hungry for dinner! -
Jamie Jacquart 4/22/2019 1:39 PMI'm so happy for our team and their continued progress that they are showing! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow do wetlands differ from other ecosystems -- both in the services they offer and in your personal experience of them?
Jamie Jacquart 4/22/2019 1:38 PMThese spaces are special in that they are providing multiple services. First, they are holding onto rainwater and not just efficiently moving out through a stormwater runoff system. Second, they are actually recharging our aquifers, which is important for available fresh water for drinking. Lastly, they provide a refuge for certain creatures to be able to lay their eggs, such as in Vernal Pools. So, while they may not be seen as "useful" to some, to other creatures, they are literally the difference between existence and extinction. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/19/2019 6:59 AMIt's been fun describing this project to friends and family and encouraging them to check it out as well!

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Jamie Jacquart 4/18/2019 1:02 PMThis really is the game changing solution for all of us at the moment. Refrigerants are currently very destructive to the environment, so finding a number of alternate solutions is critical in reducing our GHG's. I was really intrigued by the idea of compacting snow and storing it until summer to use at that time as chilled water; genius! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2019 12:47 PMI did not realize just how important forests are to acting as a carbon sink. However, that is also in danger due to the number of forest fires that are taking place with the changing climate. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Jamie Jacquart 4/15/2019 12:07 PM36% of food waste in Denmark is at the consumer level. While production, storage and transportation contribute a larger amount collectively, consumers can play a significant part in making a difference in reducing food waste. -
Jamie Jacquart 4/14/2019 7:48 AMSo happy to see our team learning in so many broad areas! Keep it up everyone!!!

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsConcrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?
Jamie Jacquart 4/12/2019 7:13 AMI had no idea that such a thing even existed! Apparently this can be used as a part of the exoskeleton for a building, but can also be used in pavers for a sidewalk or parking area!
