REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Brenda Jensen 4/24/2019 11:15 AMI discovered/confirmed by keeping the food waste log that very little of our food goes into the garbage as we compost and have chickens/dogs/cats that all benefit from the food we don't consume. So that made me feel good. What I do see is that there is a lot of food packaging in the garbage so want to focus more on buying items whenever possible with less packaging and/or providing my own reusable package when purchasing/storing. To help with that, I did purchase reusable mesh bags to put produce in so I don't use the plastic ones provided in the grocery store. This was a good exercise for me! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Properly Dispose of RefrigerantsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Brenda Jensen 4/12/2019 4:21 PMGood that we are no longer allowed to use the chemical that affects the ozone layer but the replacement HFC is 1000 to 9000 times worse in creating carbon dioxide. Why was that a choice - just swaps one destructive thing for another.
