To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

The University already offers a recycling program, which I use every single day.  When I get home, I recycle everything I can and then continue by educating my boys and encouraging them to be active about it and other green methods.

I also am part of the Green Offices program on campus that allows departments to become certified.  We promote with bulletin boards, online information and signage near trash cans and recycling bins encouraging proper recycling.

When I go out to eat, I sometimes will take recycling home with me, if it is not obvious that the restaurant will recycle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

I have switched over to use an iPad and Apple Pencil for all my meeting notes.  I use my laptop when I need more details methods of generated content or that needs to be shared.  I share electronically and not in paper form unless required by organizations out of my control.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

Simple: Politics and Lobbyists ($$$).   It is the government who continues to perpetuate the "Health Pyramid" to include meat, but only mention other forms of protein in the addendum or errata.   They also allow the meat industry to get away with some many things that allow for all the waste in meat production.  If there were very strict regulations that were required, you would see less and less meat, as it would become to expensive to produce, and become a luxury, not a common place and complacent form of food on the table
