Food
Keep Track of Wasted Food
#3 Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the EcoChallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation.

Start a Social Media Campaign
#6 Educating Girls
Through social media, I will raise awareness about gender inequity in education by sharing the information found in the links below.

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

ESuzanne Jones 4/22/2019 11:39 PMIt was my birthday today and so there was a lot of eaating in restaurants, where you often get a lot more food than you think you will get. I was very careful about what I ordered. This led to no waste at the first restaurant. At the second restautant, I was surprised with part of my order - way more than I expected - so I shared it with everyone at the table and ended up leaving very little uneaten. Also accepted rides from friends rather than taking my own car and saved several miles today. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/20/2019 7:25 PMMy awareness has certainly grown over the last two weeks about how many extra miles I have been driving. I live in a small town and it's easy to think that I'm not really going that far, but I see now that there are a lot of choices I can be making to drive a lot fewer miles. Same level of awareness about how much food I was wasting. It's been very interesting. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/17/2019 10:22 PMCut out 10 miles today by not racing out to the grocery store during lunch and eating what was on hand. And eating leftovers kept me from wasting them. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/16/2019 7:59 PMMy sister told me that I could root both the stalk if my lettuce and my celery, so I am going to try that and put them iin my garden. I did that with green onions and it did work. No more wasting those things.

ESuzanne Jones 4/14/2019 6:11 PMDifficult day. I wasted 2 buscuits because they were white flour -at a restaurant. Back on track now, though. Did think carefully about going dowtown in my car and decided not to. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/13/2019 7:11 PMWaited on an errand so I could combine it with a meeting to save mileage.
I have wasted almost no food since the challenge started. Being very creative.

ESuzanne Jones 4/11/2019 10:18 PMI am going to try to eat the whole asparagus stem for dinner, rather than cut off the tougher parts. I hope to try this with broccoli, too. Regarding mileage, today was tough, but I did manage to take one shortcut to say a cpule of miles. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/10/2019 8:36 PMMet my helper half way to our destination saving 40 miles. -
ESuzanne Jones 4/09/2019 11:24 PMOnce again, tried to lump my errands together to save mileage. Went grocery shopping and was very thoughtful about purchasing foods that I knew I could consume without leaving a lot of waste.
