When I was little, I never knew that labels on things I buy need to be read. And a teacher of literature was talking about the habit of - How to read around a Book! - the discussion then moved to knowing more and knowing what questions to ask and where to look. It was then I began forcing myself to read where the item came from, who made it, what it was made of, and it made me realise the gap between what is and what it should be. It made me spend less and also made me care for resources more. So while this seems like a simple inconsequential habit, it has the power to completely change our buying decisions and therefore push back on producers to wake up!
