REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Brianna Knight 4/18/2019 12:14 PMI use straws and food containers once. I noticed whenever I get nachos, the workers give people aluminum foil containers. Instead of the foil containers they could provide plastic containers so students could wash them and reuse them, possibly bring them back so they could be filled up with food each time they come -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Brianna Knight 4/17/2019 9:30 PMI haven’t been one to care about material things. I’ll hold onto papers with meaning like photographs old documents stuff that has sentimental value but I hate to waste paper. I’m not a fan of receipts because people can just email you stuff. If it’s homework or notes I’d rather type it up or submit a document. Material things don’t interest me as much as they used to. Even clothing I’m thinking of just thrifting instead of buying new things to decrease the amount of money I put into people mass producing new products that get thrown out as well as supporting indirect slave labor. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Brianna Knight 4/17/2019 9:28 PMCountries cultures as well as how much they create for one another. Our culture is centered around meat and cattle to the point we are willing to boost hormones into our meat. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Brianna Knight 4/17/2019 9:26 PMThe way we treat the earth comes back to impact our health and both go hand in hand. The emissions from mass meat farms end up going into our water as well as promote radiation which impacts not only the food but people living near the water as well as this mass factory farms. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Brianna Knight 4/17/2019 9:25 PMMy walks have been very calming. I did construction work back in Dominica so I got to see how the roads were created and how to do cement pours. It truly matters how u do those things because it creates a safe environment . I also noticed the way buildings are created, they have some left over grass in the back or give room for some trees basically providing space for something green to grow so it’s not only buildings. -
