REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat are your next steps for saving energy?
Janelle Krause 4/16/2019 8:31 AMthe potential of putting in solar panels is what was suggested. Otherwise our home is as energy efficient as possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Janelle Krause 4/03/2019 8:59 AM
It will help me when purchasing foods at the store to not purchase items with a short date. For items in my home I now know that I can eat most items a week after the best by dates as it may affect the appearance of the item but not the taste, but use this date as my main source of truth. Use sight and smell as better indicators as to when to throw food out. And be sure to compost when I do dispose of it. -
Janelle Krause 4/03/2019 8:45 AMI am on a household quest to reduce our one-time plastic usage. Here are some things that I have found that work great!
Replace ziplocs with reusable bags such as these - https://www.amazon.com/rezip-Lay-Flat-Leakproof-Reusable-Storage/dp/B01KRA981E/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=reusable+bags&qid=1554306025&s=gateway&sr=8-12
or search your local store for something to even further lessen your carbon footprint.
We have also removed the thin plastic produce bags in the store by using small mesh bags that I keep with my shopping bags. Every thing counts when there are stories like this out there - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pregnant-whale-plastic-pregnant-whale-washes-ashore-italy-nearly-50-pounds-of-plastic-in-stomach/ :(
Let's do our part!
