REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Megan Krenz 4/19/2019 12:40 PMI love supporting my local community, especially farmers. Plus, the closer my food is sourced from the less I"m supporting the practice of semis driving food all over from CA, etc. I'm really looking forward to the Farmer's Market starting up next month! For now the food co-op is my main go to. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Choose Recycled PaperGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Megan Krenz 4/19/2019 12:39 PMI cut most paper products out of my household, but it hadn't crossed my mind to consider the toilet paper that I buy until I was sent a petition against Charmin for cutting old-growth Boreal forest in Canada for theirs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Megan Krenz 4/19/2019 12:36 PMI like to walk my dog, but there aren't many sidewalks or good space for pedestrians on the side of the road I live on. Plus it's supposed to be 25mph, but people drive much faster once they get to the end where I live, and I'm always nervous for her and my safety. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Megan Krenz 4/09/2019 10:53 AMI think this is especially true of the Midwest, where I live. It's meat and potatoes country. This could have to do with the immigrant populations that settled this region. Also, it seems like our national dietary advice for a long time in the 20th century was always showing a plate with meat, a side of carbs, and a side of veggies, and that thinking is still prevalent here. It seems like a lot of people still think that eating meatless is wimpy or meant for people who can't afford meat. There's a social stigma surrounding meatless eating that characterizes it as something for bleeding heart liberal hippies, or poor people. This is what I've observed in my little pocket of the world, though I don't personally agree with it.-
Megan Schultz 4/16/2019 12:50 PMI think this is a super important perspective that most people dont think of!
