I love completing the reflection questions of this challenge! Helps to build our research to completing the challenges and share this info with everyone.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Ashley Krnaich's avatar
    Ashley Krnaich 4/10/2019 5:27 AM
By knowing the difference I now know that typically it is safe to consume foods for up to 10 days after the sell by date if kept properly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

I am currently a heavy coffee drinker and most forests have been cleared in central America and other counties for coffee farming. I should attempt to decrease the amount of coffee consumed on a daily basis.

When purchasing or upgrading appliances, buy all energy efficient models.
Also if using a power strip, turn strip to OFF to reduce energy while not in use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?

benefits would include improving family's health by eating local foods, which in return support local businesses/improving local economy. When shopping local-more money stays in the city compared to chain stores.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

Reduce any use of household items, making everything last longer. Repurpose as much as many items as possible. Refuse plastic bags, straws, etc.
