    Acquiring local food is difficult!  Changing or even slightly modifying several of my behaviors simultaneously is difficult.

    Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

    My grandparents lived on a farm when I was young. I have a strong emotional connection to that farm, although it no longer exists. It is now  an neighborhood of houses.

    Dependable fresh food inspires me the most of the benefits. Supporting local farmers for increased food security also is a major benefit.

    In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

    An emphasis on high protein diet, combined with affordability of meat. I think American's tend to think of meat as the staple of their diet and as part of a healthy diet.

    If by chance you think you could make it to the NAAEE conference in October, of course we would love to include you as a co-presenter if you wish.  One of my collegues who is also associated with NAAEE's climate change education professional circle will be one of the co-presenters and I believe she will be submitting the proposal this week. 

    I look forward to learning more about how you got connected to the Drawdown Eco-challenge.

      Thanks Becky.  We will be submitting the NAAEE conference proposal tomorrow. I will list you as one of the co-presenters. Then, if it turns out you are not able to attend, we can later take you off as a presenter.

    I am planning on Co-presenting a roundtable conference discussion about my experience with the Drawdown Challenge at the 2019 meeting of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) that will take place in October in Kentucky. 

    Becky--I would like to include mention of how our "A Cleaner Texas" team got started.  Is it okay with you if I use your name in the discussion as the founder?  And if so, can you provide a bit of information about your background and how you learned about the Drawdown Challenge? Also, might you be attending this conference?
