My ECO Challenge has been going wonderful. I have learned so much in the past couple of weeks and have encouraged others to participate as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

After learning more about the environmental challenges we face it makes we want to help in raising awareness of the issues so we can work collaboratively in fixing them. I feel hopeful that together we can move barriers!

The fact that we are affecting oceans negatively is concerning. We have to find new methods of keeping our oceans clean from these toxins. The best way to facilitate would be through education, both at the adult and youth level.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

It is surprising to learn how many people are unaware of  peatlands when they are so important to our environment. Very eye opening.

It is interesting to see how much impact each team can have on the environment. Each team is helping to reduce our carbon footprint and this challenge is a great way to go about that. Keep up the good work everyone!

I helped support a locally owned women run business by helping her sell jewelry where proceeds go to help support abandoned dogs in Thailand.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Michaella Lesieur's avatar
    Michaella Lesieur 4/04/2019 1:50 PM
I can recycle: bottles, cans, glass and paper. Being able to incorporate the R's into my lifestyle makes me feel that I am helping to impact the environment in a positive way!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
