REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Aurora Mann 4/24/2019 6:20 AMIf I start restricting my palm oil intake that could greatly help with deforestation in peat lands. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Aurora Mann 4/22/2019 6:26 AMI think it would be great to start using geothermal energy all around Asheville. There are a lot of hotels and restaurants in Asheville now so I think using the energy in these places would be very beneficial. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Aurora Mann 4/12/2019 6:12 AMThe parts that feel overwhelming is how fast we are deforesting land and that it may be hard to repair. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Aurora Mann 4/11/2019 7:21 AMI drink coffee, eat chocolate and dairy and meat products. I honestly eat very minimum amounts of meat so I would not mind just eating less. I also can easily cut out chocolate and milk and eggs because I do not really like them anyways and I know eating none or less is better for my health anyways. I drink coffee but not everyday and I like it a lot so I am gonna keep it up.
