REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Micro WindMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Allan Montpellier 4/07/2019 6:32 AMFound out that micro turbines have much lower cut in speeds of around 2 to 3 MPH compared with larger turbines at 5 to 6 MPH making them more viable.-
Allan Montpellier 4/10/2019 1:27 PMYes, the smaller and larger turbines have different cut in speeds so looking at combinations at large and small could be interesting. Scale of the power need will also have a big impact as a 100 micro turbines compared to one larger turbine might be tough to accommodate. -
Charles White 4/09/2019 9:23 AMAllan, do you know if the micro turbines also have a lower cut-out speed? If so, it would seem that a combination of both micro and macro turbines could help convert more of the resource.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Allan Montpellier 4/07/2019 6:21 AMAlready finding we buy too much at a time and don't use it quick enough.
