REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 8:00 PMMuch of the things I'm learning in this Drawdown challenge is inspiring me to do more locally. It's amazing the little things we can do that will build up and become something bigger and more powerful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 7:56 PMThere are a lot of factors that influence my mode of transportation. I am an independent contractor and my time is money. I have a work truck that is crucial to my job, because it has all my tools. I have to drive that to work. There are times when I am able to leave my truck all locked up on the job site and ride my bike, but it isn't often. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 7:46 PMI don't know if it is any of the ones listed (seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital) that I changed my behavior for. It's common sense, composting is good for us and the ground, so we started one. I also have looked into classes locally and informational sessions about composting, so we can really utilize what we are doing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 7:43 PMI think that moving forward we'll be working on the roof, which means we'll be looking at and adjusting our insulation. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 7:26 PMSo many of the things we can do to have an impact on climate change is also (in the long run sometimes) more cost effective. It's nice to be able to put time and effort in now and then later on have a bit more money to enjoy getting older. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat could you do differently to waste less?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 7:09 PMWe have started to really use and reuse things in the house that we normally wouldn't think to do. We've been collecting papers and burnable things for the wood stove. We have been more conscious of what we bring home, and things like reusable bags are so great. We have really been working to build our compost pile, to then use that in our garden this spring. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 6:58 PMI'm not sure if i have a vision of a sustainable community, because a community is a big thing. I can see more on an individual level, but whole community - what does that really mean? It is a bigger thing to begin and start, and it should come from the people but be supported by the local government. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 6:46 PMA lot of basics come down to spending more time getting things right and perhaps a ew extra dollars to get the right equipment. But it is always worth it in the long run. Fixing the weather stripping on windows and doors doesn't take long at all, we had it done in a few hours over the weekend. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Todd Moxham 4/24/2019 6:44 PMIt was simple. We knew it wasn't going to be cost effective to travel to SC, so we changed plans. It would be easier on people if they were more flexible.
