REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Leah Novak 4/24/2019 3:49 PMThe various dates on food really encourage you to toss food potentially before it’s gone bad. My mom loves to go through my fridge and toss anything that’s on or near it’s date regardless of whether it looks or smells bad. We Need to trust our senses more so we don’t waste as much.-
Harrison Bardel 4/24/2019 4:45 PMYes, it’s always great to trust your intincs! If you know what I’m saying.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass techonology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!
Leah Novak 4/22/2019 7:20 PMI hadn't heard of biomass before and watched the video of the town in Oregon that uses wood scrap to heat their school. Amazing! It made me think about how important it is to look into your unique geographical region for solutions. In the example I watched the community took a waste product from one area and used it as gold in another area. I wonder what resources we could do that with in my region. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Leah Novak 4/22/2019 7:15 PMI never heard of silvopasture before so I watched the video about it. Raising cows without clearing forests for open pastures seems like the biggest advantage. The cows looked like they were just strolling in the woods! They weren’t baking in the sun, the soil must have been healthier. I imagine you couldn’t have as many cattle on your farm which could be ok if we stuck to other challenges presented here like eating a plant rich diet and wasting less food.-
Jennifer May 4/22/2019 7:41 PMWhen we were in Florida, I actually saw cows grazing on fields, with trees in those fields. I was very surprised to see that there.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Leah Novak 4/10/2019 5:32 PMIt’s been so nice to get out and take a nature break each day. It’s the perfect time to do it because the trees are just starting to explode with color and so are the little bulbs on the ground. Each day it looks just a little different and it is exciting just to notice all the changes.
