REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Elijah OHara 4/24/2019 9:20 AMin money, you can hire someone to install geothermal energy into the ground and that would save money in the long run. you can use your time to install it yourself if you are very skilled at plumbing and other things. in advocacy, you could make a simple post on social media to create awareness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Elijah OHara 4/22/2019 8:05 AMHybrids get better gas mileage, therefore, using less gas and saving money. A hybrid car is right for me because it gets better mileage but I can fill it up in minutes unlike and electric which take over an hour for a full charge. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Elijah OHara 4/22/2019 8:02 AMI reduce the amount of gas that I use by driving a hybrid. I reuse my plastic by drinking out of reusable bottles. I refuse to get extra plastic when I am out to eat like straws and lids. I repair my clothes when they are ripped by sewing patches on or sewing back together. I repurpose too small clothes as rags. I would feel good about doing more of these things. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Elijah OHara 4/22/2019 7:49 AMOur fertilizers and weed killers run off into the water and we can prevent some of the runoff by mulching.
