REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Nancy Oliver 4/23/2019 12:30 PMUse by dates are the most helpful as they indicate the last date to safely use a product. The other notations are up to interpretation and common sense should rule when looking at dates on food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Research and Advocate for High-Speed RailWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?
Nancy Oliver 4/22/2019 10:43 AMI just returned from a trip to Los Angles where I used electric scooters and bikes for short trips to the grocery store and leisure along the beach. The availability of these vehicles and the reasonable cost to rent them made them a joy to use. By simply scanning a barcode to access and not worrying about thief once I reached my destination, I was happy to leave the car parked and take a fun ride. In both Venice and Santa Monica lanes are designated for bike use and so safety was not a big concern. I will be advocating for my city to join in this great idea. -
Nancy Oliver 4/10/2019 8:50 AMRealizing that going out of town was going to allow some food (mostly produce) to expire. I loaded it up and took it to a friend so I could honestly stay with wasting less food. -

Nancy Oliver 4/08/2019 11:05 AMI drove a field trip to visit a net neutral home today. There were many types of solar energy in this beautiful but not over the top house in our town. There was a 3000 gallon rainwater storage tank to collect roof runoff and it is used for toilets and watering plants. The plantings were drought tolerant and the house was lovely. So glad I got to drive the bus and see the home. -
