REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Christa Payton 4/04/2019 12:01 PMDuring my daily walks I have made it a point to pick up at least one piece of litter (often times more!). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Christa Payton 4/04/2019 12:00 PMLiving in an older home (114 years and counting), I realize that by doing regular maintenance like having our HVAC serviced, will allow us to increase the longevity of these appliances while also insuring they run perfectly. I also researched how to deep clean my dishwasher, as well as, my washer. And my husband I researched how we can add insulation to our attic to help keep our heating and cooling in!-
Christa Payton 4/08/2019 1:17 PMFor my dishwasher, I turned to YouTube and found my make and a close model to mine. I watched it a couple times, and then watched it "step-by-step" as I cleaned my dishwasher. It was both gross and gratifying, and I was so proud of not only taking it apart, but putting it back together. For my washing machine, I followed these steps, worked like a charm: https://www.bhg.com/homekeeping/laundry-linens/tips-checklists/how-to-clean-washing-machine/ -
Emily Andrews 4/08/2019 6:54 AMI'm interested in your research findings on deep cleaning appliances. It's a great pet peeve of mine to clean the things that clean things, but if it will extend their usefulness and increase efficiency, I'm in!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Support Women-Owned BusinessesGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Christa Payton 4/03/2019 8:30 AMI can better support communities supporting women, by shopping local! I discovered there are many women-owned businesses within walking and biking distance of my home. I feel by regularly sharing what I discover will make an impact. I feel that during the holidays there is more awareness around "shop small," but that message is often lost as the year progresses. Making a list of what each woman-owned business offers, will help me shop there more regularly.
