What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

The true value of the land. You must respect the land and nurture it with care in order for it to sustain you. I was and continue to be dishearten by the deforestation of the Amazon jungles. This was an important part for me:

"Indigenous and community-owned lands represent 18 percent of all land area, including at least 1.2 billion acres of forest, containing 37.7 billion tons of carbon stock. Growing the acreage under secure indigenous land tenure can increase above- and belowground carbon stocks and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation."

I wasted no breakfast, lunch or dinner. Using smaller plates, and putting my compost in bins at work. I would rather use the extra money on clothes!
