Modern American society's consumption of food, products, and space is extremely unsustainable. If individuals begin to practice a more moderate and less indulgent lifestyle, I believe society will slowly become more sustainable.

Forests offer natural beauty to the landscape and a habitat for cute woodland creatures, both things that I really love.

As a Hindu, I find my spirituality in connecting with the natural environment. This drives me to protect the environment and urge others to invest in less destructive energy sources.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

I would rather use this money to buy pricier but sustainably produced food and products.

What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

I made a deliberate choice not to fly to Pittsburgh from NYC. I try to avoid air travel by traveling to destinations that can be reached by rail or bus.
