This allows me have a clearer picture of when I have to use food by and helps me reduce both my food waste and grocery bill
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I think it is both cultural and a lack of knowledge about alternative sources of protein. There is a sense that no meal is complete without meat and most meals center around a main of meat and sides of vegetables and starches.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Using smaller plates isn't just a recommendation for reducing food waste but also for healthy weight maintenance or weight loss. A fuller plate makes us feel like we are eating more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

Growing up in a small town public transportation wasn't really available and riding the bus was looked down on. Now in a big city no one thinks twice about it and it is a necessity. I use public transportation every day to avoid congestion on the roads and paying for parking.
