Food
Support Local Food Systems
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will source 20 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Transport
Explore Other Transport Solutions
All Transport Solutions
I will spend at least 15 minutes researching other Drawdown Transport Solutions.
Transport
Use Muscle Power
#49 Cars
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Buildings and Cities
Choose LED Bulbs
#33 LED Lighting (Household)
I will replace 14 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Transport
Test Drive an Electric Bike
#69 Electric Bikes
I will test drive an electric bike at a local distributor to see if it makes sense to use one in place of my car, or to extend the area I can cover by bike.

I will enjoy 1 meatless or vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Land Use
Plant Trees

Purchase a Carbon Offset
#43 Airplanes
If I buy a plane ticket, I will purchase a carbon offset.
Materials
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
#46 Water Saving - Home
I will prevent water runoff and increase absorbency by mulching the base of trees and plants in my yard.
Materials
Choose Recycled Paper
#70 Recycled Paper
I will plan ahead to only use paper products made from post-consumer recycled paper for my home or office.
Materials
Properly Dispose of Refrigerants

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?
Justin Pingatore 4/04/2019 6:57 AMI live 5-10 minutes (by car) to 80% of the places I frequent. Having an electric bike will only a few minutes to my commute. For some places, the time will decrease because of the 'crow's path' that bike trails can provide. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Justin Pingatore 4/04/2019 6:53 AMAlternative transportation helps me understand the importance of green belts and bike paths through neighborhoods and urban environments. This allows you to get a better understanding of your area and appreciate the amount of planning it takes to build this type of structure.
