REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Carolyn Plemons 4/16/2019 12:23 PMFirst and foremost, it was fun to harvest the seeds, let them dry and plant them inside and watch them sprout. Now that they are outside, it is relaxing to water them and watch them grow. It is a good feeling to know that even such a small gesture is a help to the environment and even better, I will be able to see the fruits of my labor one day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Carolyn Plemons 4/16/2019 12:15 PMI was not aware of the misconceptions and differences of use by, sell by and best by. I now have a better understanding and will be able to choose wisely and have less food waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Carolyn Plemons 4/16/2019 10:50 AMBamboo products are not readily available in my area, although, I have found I can get them on Amazon and have them delivered. I have bought in bulk to save on frequency of delivery and impact on the environment. The cost is more than other products of the same kind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Carolyn Plemons 4/16/2019 10:40 AMIt is difficult since Palm Oil is in most prepackaged foods. It is a bit time consuming at the store to look through the list of ingredients but I am committed and will continue to purchase foods not containing this oil. -
Carolyn Plemons 4/15/2019 11:05 AMI planted 5 trees that I had grown from seeds. A lemon, an orange and three avocado trees. I know it will be several years before I see fruit but I am excited to see this seedlings grow. My granddaughter and I will be planting more at her house. Not only does this help the environment but a fun activity for the family to do together.
