I learned how important it is, women don't have enough access to family planning even in developed countries. Women have reduced and unpaid maternity leave, and there is an attack on contraception and abortions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/24/2019 12:14 PM
By supporting companies who are using geothermal energy, switching to geothermal energy and supporting plants who are using geothermal energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/24/2019 12:11 PM
We would have to be using sustainable energy such as solar panels and windmills, reducing our waste, encouraging companies to recycle, reduce our consumer habits, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

It would help the earth because I would be releasing less carbon into the air.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Social Justice Learn about Local Indigenous Practices
What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/23/2019 10:14 AM
I learned that Indigenous people have left a historical imprint on many locations in the world such as Philadelphia.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Advocate for Solar Installation
How does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/08/2019 7:53 AM
I believe everyone should be using renewable energy and spreading that it is important and can be fun will help get everyone involved.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Communicate With My Elected Officials
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/08/2019 7:52 AM
We only have one earth, I strongly believe we need to switch to sustainable energy now.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Trudy Poux's avatar
    Trudy Poux 4/08/2019 7:36 AM
Hours of labor and water. Hours of labor is bad because by throwing food out I am creating work for others. Water is bad because of the simple resource many countries do not have.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

On our cell towers, houses and businesses. If the state took out money to pay people or give tax benefits for companies using micro wind we could use renewable energy nationwide.
