REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice DonateHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Molly Riordan 4/24/2019 1:26 PMEnvironmental issues are wholly wrapped up in issues of social justice. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Molly Riordan 4/24/2019 1:14 PMFinancial waste is always a big motivator because of my financial situation. However, I also feel that wasting water is one of the mos egregious wastes because water is such a precious and essential resource, but is not properly distributed among peoples. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Support Women-Owned BusinessesGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Molly Riordan 4/23/2019 2:34 PMBy providing more opportunities for women, and therefore more opportunities for success, the money we invest in such women becomes reinvested in the community by way of their accomplishments. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Host a Film ScreeningWhat is the next step beyond raising awareness of women's and gender equality issues?
Molly Riordan 4/23/2019 2:33 PMThe next step is taking action and educating people on how to address it realistically in the home, workplace, and on a broader more systemic level. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass techonology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!
Molly Riordan 4/23/2019 2:25 PMI had never really looked into biomass technology prior to this challenge. I was pleasantly surprised to learn how accessible it can be. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Research Heat PumpsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Molly Riordan 4/15/2019 10:32 AMClimate change is something we all have a stake in. However, it has to be viewed from a broader perspective than simply our personal stake; I see climate change as a social justice issue as well that can open up opportunities for improvement across all sectors of our global society -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Molly Riordan 4/10/2019 12:22 PMI grew up in a city where public transportation is very accessible. I have used public transportation my whole life to get around and although it can have its drawbacks, I feel empowered being able to navigate public transport and reduce my carbon footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Fix Leaky FaucetsWhat are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?
Molly Riordan 4/10/2019 12:20 PMMy roommates and I have pledged to take shorter showers to save water (and money!!). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Molly Riordan 4/10/2019 12:18 PMThere is no option to recycle in my apartment building, so every 2 weeks my roommate and I take a trip to the recycling center and drop off our recyclables. Even though it is a car trip, it is worth it to dispose of all our recyclables properly!
