REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Kristina Rose 4/24/2019 12:05 PMI enjoy watching spring develop and seeing and listening to the different types of birds and plants that are coming out. We are lucky to live in a place with lots of trails for walking. Accessible pathways are helpful for getting out with my little one. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Kristina Rose 4/24/2019 11:52 AMI think it helps make me aware of when I should try to consume the food I purchase by, and shop and plan accordingly. It would be great of Canada could create a similar preventative food waste movement, that creates a sense of pride and ownership about reducing waste, as is occurring in Denmark. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Kristina Rose 4/24/2019 11:45 AMI had not heard of the term silvopasture before, however, I have seen this farming technique in practice locally but not recognised it for its benefits. I think that the biggest advantage is that it promotes raising live stock by not deforesting, and could even lead to reforestation which is a major concern connected meat consumption and carbon emissions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about Regenerative AgricultureClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?
Kristina Rose 4/24/2019 11:41 AMRegenerative agriculture is also an important practice to support and care about because it helps to support small farmers, those abroad and locally, who through their efforts are both adding healthy resources for consumption but doing so in away that aids our environment versus hindering, which contrasts large industrial practices. Regenerative agriculture improves the quality of the soil and allows it to aid in storing larger amounts of carbon that adds nutritional value to the food.
