  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Charles Roy 5/02/2019 1:28 PM
I could reuse plastic containers 2 or three times before recycling them. This implementation of the R's make me feel proud. This is because I know that I am doing something good.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Charles Roy's avatar
    Charles Roy 5/02/2019 1:27 PM
I noticed that some buildings on my walks are vacant as of now.  I enjoyed the trees that were blooming during the spring time. I would have the vacant buildings either torn down or re-purposed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

My consumption of red meats such as beef requires open land for cattle to graze and be corralled. I can decrease my intake of beef and other red meats.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Charles Roy's avatar
    Charles Roy 5/02/2019 1:20 PM
I could donate time or money to an organization that would purchase peatlands so they can protect them, or advocate to the Indonesian government to set aside some land for protection.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Charles Roy's avatar
    Charles Roy 5/02/2019 1:18 PM
I would rather use this money on growing a garden or donating to a food shelter.  I know that the money donated will not be wasted.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Charles Roy's avatar
    Charles Roy 5/02/2019 1:16 PM
It makes me more empowered to make better decisions because it allows me to know when to use food products without wasting them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Charles Roy's avatar

I often frequent to the grocery store, and to the track. I could choose to go three days to these places with my friends.
