Trees are peaceful and strong. I took a cutting from the willow tree on our property it Is one of the oldest trees in our area. I soaked the cutting in water for 3 weeks to sprout roots and now I am planting this tiny willow and caring for it.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful spring! I went on a 4.5 mile walk along the road and saw how much garbage was on the side of the road. I will walk the road again but this time with a trash bag!

Yesterday I contacted our Mayor and Supervisor about sustainable energy sources for our community and I received a reassuring response. All street lights are being replaced with LED in the town and village. All citizens including those who rent will have access to solar energy as the plan progresses. Community composting is available.Trails are being maintained. Etc. There are opportunities to volunteer and get involved if anyone is interested.

I believe that we need to make immediate changes towards a sustainable future for our community, children and the world as a whole. The technology exists for sustainable energy and now we need to work together with our governments to implement the change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

I tested an e bike and decided that I like my road bike and my mountain bike better. I was able to go about 2 miles faster on the e bike, not enough for me to spend $3000! So for me muscle power is still the way to go.
