Research has proven the harm caused by black carbon and emissions from cooking firest or rudimentary cookstoves to the human body as well as the environment. In the US, as well as other countries, the emissions affect millions of children, as well as adults, who are unable to speak up for themselves and demand better air quality for themselves. It's easy to take clean air for granted but humans continue to harm the environment in which we leave. We know better and need to do better.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Support Women-Owned BusinessesGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Teresa Saulsby 4/22/2019 8:18 AMI try to support women-owned businesses whenever I can. Of course, the businesses have to provide a service that is aligned with my interests/needs. If I find such a business, I will share their company with my friends, family, social media accounts. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Teresa Saulsby 4/12/2019 12:13 PMWe are a bit selfish in nature - capitalism. Americans are targeted through marketing and we are constantly bombarded with images of enjoying the good life - eating steaks, hamburgers, meat, meat. We have lost the connection with the land and I guess we are like sheep being blindly led around. Ignorance is a major contributor. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Start a Social Media CampaignHow are people responding to the statistics you're sharing on social media?

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Teresa Saulsby 4/12/2019 12:07 PM
My entire family is onboard with recycling; even my 3-year old great grandson recycles. I'm also better at reusing and not being wasteful. Will keep up the good work! -
Teresa Saulsby 4/10/2019 1:02 PMThe challenge is going well. I just fall behind in documenting. But, I'm getting it in!
