  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I think, since we have so much open land in this country, large scale animal farming is more economical than elsewhere so Americans eat a lot of meat because it is relatively cheap. It's also part of the American identity. People associate eating meat with machismo and virility.

Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

I'm not seeing many! So I'm trying to just consume less. I carry silverware with me so I'm not using disposables at lunch. I have bamboo cutting boards and some bowls but the need hasn't come up for something else during the challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

I didn't realize I needed to check in every day on my daily challenges! Sorry! Will do moving forward.
