REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? Share some of the learning with your friends!
Rodney Sedillo 4/24/2019 7:57 AMI learned that providing increased education to women and girls could potentially have the same amount of carbon offset or reduction as wind power over the next 25 years. Incredible. Make the effort to support education of women and girls around the world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Rodney Sedillo 4/24/2019 5:59 AMTaking action is the moral and individually responsible thing to do. I care because my actions influence those around me as well as create an impact on our environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?
Rodney Sedillo 4/24/2019 5:58 AMNot just walking, but biking too. Walking and biking infrastructure creates opportunities for lower income individuals to save time and money. Not needing a car saves money. Being able to walk or bike and not rely on public transportation and the set schedule if offers allows more time for those individuals. From experience, what is a 20 minute drive, is an hour long bus commute in our city. Creating the infrastructure and developing smartly with local shops and grocery stores; creating a walkable community is the smart thing to do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Rodney Sedillo 4/23/2019 6:06 AMVirtual meetings make sense. The resources that go into transportation and lost time while traveling cannot be outweighed by the personal interaction obtained in an in-person meeting. While face-to-face meetings are great, not all meetings must be in person. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Rodney Sedillo 4/23/2019 6:03 AMI would use this money toward making more energy efficient improvements to our home. Save money, make smart choices, save more money. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationDiversifying our energy supply and improving public health are just two benefits of renewable energy. What other motivators inspire you to consider installing a solar water heater in your home?
Rodney Sedillo 4/15/2019 7:41 AMThe upfront cost of infrastructure is a bit off-putting, however the motivators are free energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat could you do differently to waste less?
Rodney Sedillo 4/15/2019 6:43 AMKeep track of all waste for a week, save it until the end of the week in order to evaluate what specific items could be reduced or rid of. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Rodney Sedillo 4/05/2019 2:13 PMThe human activity I see a lot in my small bayfront town is people leaving pet waste in their yards, in parks, and alongside sidewalks. Many of these places are a stone's throw from either a creek or the bay itself. We have local municipalities which constantly lets fecal contaminated wastewater spill into our rivers and streams. These practices have to stop. I have volunteered with our local Waterkeepers chapter to monitor fecal contamination in our rivers and streams. -
Rodney Sedillo 4/05/2019 1:59 PMWhile traffic was horrible, the bike ride to pick up my son from daycare was anything but. Good for my health, good for my sanity, good for the environment. I joined the challenge to create new habits for me, my family and ones that my son sees and learns as he grows up. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Rodney Sedillo 4/05/2019 1:55 PMTwenty years ago was the best time to plant a tree. The next best time is today. Great Chinese proverb. Planting anything is satisfying but there is something spectacular about planting a tree. In time it outgrows you, providing shade, habitat, carbon sequestration and an ambiance to the area it was planted in.
