Support Local Food Systems

I will source 50 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Transport
Explore Other Transport Solutions
All Transport Solutions
I will spend at least 20 minutes researching other Drawdown Transport Solutions.
Materials
Go Paperless
#70 Recycled Paper
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.

Susan Shaftan Perrin 4/24/2019 4:09 AMnot sure why it only listed 2 local meals, but we source at least 50% of most of our meals locally. So easy here in the Hudson Valley- join a CSA, visit a farmer's market, or just purchase food from the "locally grown" section of any of our supermarkets. This is also a commitment to eat more fresh foods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Susan Shaftan Perrin 4/10/2019 4:14 PMEating local food supports our neighbors, means we eat fresher and in season food and also helps reduce our carbon footprint-
Steve Dunning 4/11/2019 3:14 AMthis also keeps our money in our local economy - the profits are not being physically removed and controlled by others to invest elsewhere!
