We do a lot every day that isn't reflected in the challenge - composting, etc. I wish I could have achieved more in portion control, but I guess even the climate crisis can't solve my personal obesity crisis. We never got around to researching local businesses that are owned by women. We know of a few that we do frequent, but we didn't do any new research. We did manage to walk regularly (even on days I neglected to check in - missed points!), save water on flushing the toilets, and begin research on replacing an old air conditioner.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Give a Microloan
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. Why do you think that is?

We finally re-loaned money we had bouncing around Kiva. Will do so diligently in the future, rather than let it stagnate.

Has anyone else done the legwork to learn about which local businesses are owned by women? Looking to steal, since we all live in the same community...
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

We already have small tanks so I installed two beer bottles - all that would fit - in two toilet tanks.

It’s silly that adding profile pictures and the like earn points. Come on.

Traditional ceremonies of connecting with each other and celebrating the earth have always included elaborate costumes, art, song and dance. Perhaps the importance of this has been overlooked.

it is but that’s the hand we’ve been dealt.
I think it’s just to capture people’s attention or a “feel good” thing
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Free pizza at staff meeting. Totally over did it. Oops.

Walking behind my house is easy. Walking in front is more perilous. No sidewalks, little shoulder.
