REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social JusticeIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
Mridu Sharma 4/24/2019 3:07 PMIt only makes sense that restoring balance fosters sustainability. The earth has existed for millions of years. The nature has been responsible for restoring balance and that is why the earth has sustained for so long. Whenever humans have disturbed the balance, nature has taken its course in the form of famines, droughts, storms, hurricanes, etc. If we don't take steps to restore balance, nature will. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Mridu Sharma 4/24/2019 3:03 PMI think being able to use the same land which is such a limited resource for both plants and trees and livestock. It is sustainable and helps economically too.
