    Food
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

The economics and the way food is marketed by the food industry. North American values are very dependant on the way food is marketed and it is a capitalist economy which profits from selling meat.

I learned that empowering women to decide when they want children can help in
Population control- which will help with sustainability, reduction of emissions and lesser demand on the resources.

I learned that eating beans, chickpeas and soy also increases my footprint as much as chicken and being vegan actually reduces even my water footprint compared to eating meat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Action Track: Social Justice
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

It only makes sense that restoring balance fosters sustainability.  The earth has existed for millions of years.  The nature has been responsible for restoring balance and that is why the earth has sustained for so long. Whenever humans have disturbed the balance, nature has taken its course in the form of famines, droughts, storms, hurricanes, etc. If we don't take steps to restore balance, nature will.

Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

I think being able to use the same land which is such a limited resource for both plants and trees and livestock. It is sustainable and helps economically too.
