REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Help Girls Overcome Health BarriersIn what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/11/2019 4:18 AMAnother way to overcome these barriers is to educate others. Many people are scared or hesitant about the unknown, if we can break the stigma surrounding periods and other women's issues it could help tremendously. -
Jasmine Silvestri 4/07/2019 4:39 AMSo far I have really enjoyed this challenge as it helps you to put so many things into perspective. I've also learned so many new things regarding companies in my own city that are doing all they can to operate more sustain-ably. It's a great feeling to know that there are people and companies out there that care as much as you do and are making the world a better place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood DonateHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/07/2019 4:34 AMI believe this issue is a social issue because many people have no choice but to use these products due to not having the means or the money for something better.
Because many people out there have no other option but to use cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves they are then forces to experience any adverse side affects of these products.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Support Women-Owned BusinessesGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/04/2019 4:31 AMI had honestly never thought that by supporting women owned business I could be better supporting my community.
Learning that women typically invest more of their earnings in their families and communities honestly does not shock me. All in all I feel women are just more generous and I would love to support businesses that are generous and give back to their communities.
When you learn more about a company and where their giving goes you can really decipher if that is a company you want to buy from. When you look into a companies ties with the community and where their giving lies you also learn more about them and where you can offer support outside of buying from that company.

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/04/2019 4:07 AMI want to prioritize relationships over the material things in my life. Building and sustaining relationships is so important as those relationships can last a life time and bring fulfillment to your life.
Whereas, with material things they may only bring you happiness for a short time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/03/2019 11:23 AMFood is essential and it always hurts me when I throw away something because I forgot I had it and it went bad or I just bought too much.
Throwing away food is throwing away your money and along with that it's not good for the environment.
I was motivated to reduce my waste because of land, and water that is used. I don't want to contribute as much as I do to landfills and food waste is definitely a huge part of that! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Jasmine Silvestri 4/03/2019 11:14 AMI've noticed recently that bamboo products have become more readily available. The grocery store that I frequent recently started stocking bamboo toothbrushes which is so convenient! I believe this is a step in the right direction for grocery chains to offer more sustainable products.
I've also noticed that Target carries bamboo utensils which are perfect for cooking more sustain-ably.
It's also very helpful that there are many online retailers such as Package Free Shop, and Amazon that provide bamboo products for a variety of different items.
