Harold Solomon 4/22/2019 10:37 AMI made enough quinoa fried 'rice' to last me a few days and I have no more meat to cook left in my dorm so its the only sustenance I have. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Harold Solomon 4/22/2019 10:36 AMUsing the R's wasn't really a challenge as it is the most basic thing we could do. Since the beginning of the year, I have encouraged my roommates to make sure to recycle even if it required scolding them. In terms of the other r's, I think I already do a fine job in repurposing and reusing things. I usually use plastic bins as containers to hold school supplies and other items. I repair most things, I'm not a big tosser of things. Nonetheless, implementing the R's is not a hassle and feels good honestly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Harold Solomon 4/18/2019 12:44 PMI know this challenge is regarding carpooling, which I have done, but I have been doing this challenge in a different way. Instead of riding our FGCU shuttle, I have been walking to all my classes throughout this month and felt that this was also a big help in not contributing to emissions. I feel that there shouldn't be any shuttles from North Lake housing at all. Its three or four shuttles that ride around all day from about 8 am till nearly 10 pm throughout the week and that has a big impact. Nonetheless, I have also been carpooling with friends whenever we go out. These days are normally on the weekend just because our school schedules are locked up. Even when we do go out, we don't go far (Target, Costco, GameTime). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Harold Solomon 4/08/2019 5:58 PMI feel that us being one of if not, the most powerful country gives us the ideology that we have to be more carnivorous just because we can. We go to insane measures to ensure that we have all this meat too, like using land in other countries like Brazil. I love meat as much as the next person but we have to recognize the consequences of mass overconsumption and make a change that can still allow for a diet with meat but also ensures we are making sound enviro-friendly choices. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Harold Solomon 4/08/2019 5:52 PMNot really. In all honesty, I used to see public transportation as something only used by those who are less fortunate and couldn't afford their own vehicle. Looking at it now, I commend people who prefer that passage of transportation and don't cloud up our atmosphere with even more C02. -
Harold Solomon 4/08/2019 5:45 PMI rode on the shuttles for at least two rotations and for the rest I walked to my other class. Given I know this is specifically for usage of public transportation but still I feel like walking is even better. -
Harold Solomon 4/08/2019 5:44 PMI made (and ate some of) a veggie quinoa stirfry that'll most likely last me the week. No recipe, just played around till it made something that tasted good.
