It's nice to be a part of a community that is coming together to make a difference. I love that the kids are so involved. Reuse, reduce, recycle, should become as important as the abc's.

What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I use a reusable bottle for water and I don't buy plastic zip lock bags at the store anymore.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Eating smaller portions is better to help you maintain a healthy weight. Also, eat your smaller portion slowly, so your brain has time to catch up!

Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

Knowing the difference between use by, sell by and best by dates empowers me to make better decisions, because I will waste less food in knowing that something isn't necessarily bad or spoiled because of the date that is on it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

I had not heard of silvopasture before. I think one of the biggest advantages of silvopasture is that farmers can have more than one crop going at once. They can have their dairy cows, and also harvest from the trees, whether with wood, or nuts. It diversifies the farming business.
