    Beautiful day, beautiful walk today!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

I've been increasing my recycling for the last 3 years.  Now that I've been recycling I need to start focusing on reducing what I buy that needs recycling.  Some weeks I can't believe how much recycling we are taking out to the curb.  Need to reduce plastic!

Keeping track of food waste is definitely impacting my food shopping and food preparation.  If you haven't done it, give it a try.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

My community has made a strong commitment to making the entire community walkable.  We have side walks that connect a very large part of the community and more planned over the coming years.  It's a large community and would take a lot of time to really walk all of it but I have several 4-5 mile routes that can be covered in a hour or so.  I'm very lucky to live where I do.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

There are so many things that this $ could be better spent, offsetting sports team costs, vacations, etc...  Keeping this log is helping to raise more visibility to the waste my family has and how we need to be better at buying only what we'll use.

It's tough to get out and walk after work.  I need to shift on those days that schedules are tight and do some walking in the building during the day.

Day one of walking on Saturday has already blistered my foot.  Should have been doing this regularly all along and not needed the challenge to do it but glad the challenge is getting me out there again.

New fire drill work request that took up Thursday and Friday had a derailing affect on me and I did not achieve all of my daily activities.  Back to working them into my daily schedule for the weekend.
