REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Katherine Stokke 4/23/2019 9:02 AMTo invest in geothermal energy, I can look into options for heat pumps. The western part of the U.S. has many source options for this type of energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Katherine Stokke 4/23/2019 8:47 AMBeing able to better differentiate between product dates helps me avoid throwing out food that is still fine to eat. -
Katherine Stokke 4/19/2019 2:55 PMKeep up the great work, team! Don't forget to check in during the weekend too! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Katherine Stokke 4/18/2019 2:03 PMA sustainable community balances the needs of society, the environment, and the economy so that it can be viable ongoing. To make that a reality, we need lots of incremental change bolstered by doses of disruptive change as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Katherine Stokke 4/17/2019 3:12 PMBeaverton has pockets of tall buildings here and there where micro turbines could be installed. -

Katherine Stokke 4/16/2019 3:31 PMI hadn't heard of silvopasture before now. I really like how it promote biodiversity and provides grazing livestock with some shade from extreme weather. -
Katherine Stokke 4/13/2019 3:45 PMI took my older son on a walk today through our neighborhood, despite the weather, and am planning to take my younger son on one tomorrow. -

Katherine Stokke 4/04/2019 11:36 AMWe eat so much meat in North America compared to other countries, which goes to show how much further we need to adjust our ways of living when we consider their overall impact.
