Stacy's actions
Materials
Go Paperless
#70 Recycled Paper
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.
Food
Support Local Food Systems
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will source 10 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Land Use
Plant Trees
#15 Afforestation
I will plant 2 tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Land Use
Buy Bamboo
#35 Bamboo
When they are available, I will purchase products made from bamboo instead of wood, plastic, or metal.
Land Use
Choose Better Wood Products
#38 Forest Protection
I will only purchase wood and paper products from ecologically certified sources like Forest Stewardship Council.
Buildings and Cities
Plan to Insulate
#31 Insulation
I will find out how to make my home more energy efficient through better insulation and weatherization.
Buildings and Cities
Go for a Daily Walk
#54 Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 15 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
#4 Plant-Rich Diet
I will enjoy 1 meatless or vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Buildings and Cities
Choose LED Bulbs
#33 LED Lighting (Household)
I will replace 5 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

Stacy Stoliker 4/23/2019 4:24 AMThis is a great time to get some of your other vegetables planted by seed. Remember to cover them if we get a really cold night. The reward of even planting patio lettuce (which is super easy to maintain and can be brought in on a cold night) is amazing. It really makes you smile to see your own food growing.... -
Stacy Stoliker 4/12/2019 8:18 AMIt is amazing how aware this challenge has made me of my daily routine. It makes you take a moment to think about your actions.-

Stacy Stoliker 4/05/2019 6:27 AMThe wood we are using to rebuild our decks and porch overhangs are all from our own sawmill in Staatsburg, NY. Our business is completely green, with no waste. -
Stacy Stoliker 4/05/2019 6:25 AMSince we already have bamboo growing in our yard, we use bamboo stakes in the garden to help with items that need to climb. It is a great all-natural option to metal stakes. -
Stacy Stoliker 3/31/2019 7:01 PMSo excited, I planted peas on Tuesday, so I would be ready to get going with this challenge. I love all of the fresh food the Hudson Valley has to offer. We purchase almost all of our beef and vegetables from local farmers. My brother's family now raises chickens; there is nothing as good as farm fresh eggs!!!
