This is a great time to get some of your other vegetables planted by seed.  Remember to cover them if we get a really cold night.  The reward of even planting patio lettuce (which is super easy to maintain and can be brought in on a cold night) is amazing.  It really makes you smile to see your own food growing....

It is amazing how aware this challenge has made me of my daily routine. It makes you take a moment to think about your actions.

The wood we are using to rebuild our decks and porch overhangs are all from our own sawmill in Staatsburg, NY.  Our business is completely green, with no waste.

Since we already have bamboo growing in our yard, we use bamboo stakes in the garden to help with items that need to climb.  It is a great all-natural option to metal stakes.

So excited, I planted peas on Tuesday, so I would be ready to get going with this challenge.  I love all of the fresh food the Hudson Valley has to offer.  We purchase almost all of our beef and vegetables from local farmers.  My brother's family now raises chickens; there is nothing as good as farm fresh eggs!!!
