REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:22 PMI can continue to look for methods to do less printing in general, with all of the digital solutions in place, it can be minimized or avoided altogether. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:21 PMI just try to keep the mentality that every person, no matter how small, has to try and make a difference, and collectively, hopefully we can make change happen. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesHow could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:20 PMI think that many people already walk or ride bikes, but San Diego is very much "stretched" out when it comes to relative distance between work, home, and entertainment. In addition, California drivers are kind of crazy, and many of the reasons I don't want my children walking or riding their bike to school is because of the lack of safe walking infrastructure. It more of it were to exist, especially well lit paths, in clear line of sight of people, it would promote walking and more people would want to do it, saving money on fuel, parking, roadway improvements, etc. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:17 PMNo, I had not heard of the term silvopasture previously. I think there are many advantages like climate mitigation and habitat/forest restoration. But i think reducing the number of factory farmed meats while using less land to feed our growing population is one of the most advantageous reason to use this method. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat are your next steps for saving energy?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:14 PMI actually did pretty well with my family of 5 on this test. But I do know there are more ways to save energy. One of these is maybe air drying some clothes instead of using the dryer, since we live in SD and it's the perfect climate to do that many days out of the year. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:13 PMRebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity (related to cleaner water too). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:10 PMI learned that switching to vegan or even vegetarian can greatly reduce emissions. And of course, there are health benefits that would lead to lower chronic disease. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Inna Tasmaly 4/24/2019 3:01 PMSome of those methods release toxic chemicals that the community (or the person is in turn breathing in. This becomes a human health issue. This is also more common in poor or 3rd world country communities, where social justice is an issue in itself. -
Inna Tasmaly 4/17/2019 4:20 PMI was out of the country for some time, so I haven't had a chance to follow up on everything, but I have been mindful of some of my goals and have tried to incorporate sustainability into my travel where possible.-
