REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? Share some of the learning with your friends!
Kellianne Ticcony 4/24/2019 7:09 PMI learned that in the United States, 45% of the pregnancies are unintended. The impact of family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting women's expressed needs, equality, and well-being of the planet to reach the ultimate goal. Expanding access to family planning can range from the increase in the supply of affordable contraception and education about sex and reproduction. An investment in family planning could also help to keep us from reaching a point of overpopulation.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/24/2019 7:05 PMI was extremely surprised to learn that tidal energy is one of the oldest forms of energy. Especially because it is not very widely used as I feel it could be today, but it is very efficient. I had assumed when I first heard of the technology that it was newer, therefore not widely implemented. After my research, I feel many more places could be taking advantage of this clean and efficient form of energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/24/2019 6:54 PMNot only are trees essential to a healthy ecosystem, but they are also extremely beautiful. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/23/2019 8:15 AMAt my local grocery store, I see many products with labels that state they are a woman owned and operated company, I like to support them by purchasing their products when possible. Social media is also a good place to find companies that are woman owned and operated. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Kellianne Ticcony 4/23/2019 6:47 AMMy biggest concern about our effect on the planet is how much meat we consume. Especially in North America. I feel like meat should be a smaller portion of a person's diet, getting consumed a few times a week. A transition to a more plant based diet would be extremely beneficial to the planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/23/2019 6:46 AMI prioritize lots of things that provide me happiness over material stuff. I find happiness in non material things such as scuba diving, hiking, dancing, learning, volunteering, and spending time with my animals. I definitely prioritize the care of my pets over material stuff -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/23/2019 6:43 AMI learned that the only food that cannot be donated is sushi. Every other food can be donated as long as donation rules are followed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/22/2019 3:28 PMI have started to check food and cosmetic labels for Elaeis guineensis, Ethyl Palmitate, Glyceryl, Hydrogenated palm glycerides, Octyl Palmitate, Palm fruit oil, Palm kernel, Palm stearine, Palmate, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Palmityl alcohol, Palmolein, Sodium Kernelate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium palm kernelate, and Stearate. Any products with these ingredients contain palm oil. I keep the list in the notes on my phone and take time to compare with labels in the store. Some companies even use vegetable oil on their labels to hide that they're using palm oil. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat is the most exciting solution you explored? Why is it exciting to you?
Kellianne Ticcony 4/22/2019 3:25 PMI find tidal energy the most exciting because is innovative and efficient. If we use tidal energy we could provide electricity to 25% of the USA!
