Kristie Wagner 4/24/2019 8:07 AMGreat job everyone! Keep up the good work in our last day of the EcoChallenge! Maybe you have time for another one-time challenge?
What was your favorite challenge? The easiest one? The hardest one? Your least favorite? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Kristie Wagner 4/24/2019 8:02 AMA sustainable community can support itself entirely on resources where it is situated with minimal outside resources. In our world there are likely to be some outside resources coming into a system, but there would have to be a huge paradigm shift to make this common place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Kristie Wagner 4/24/2019 8:01 AMThere are a lot in the greater Milwaukee area, but not as many in the suburban areas nearby where I live and work. I found it interesting that there aren't more connecting public transit options since everything is so close together here and it would be incredibly easy and efficient to have something like a train or similar option. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?
Kristie Wagner 4/24/2019 7:59 AMTime and convenience mostly, but I think there would have to be a lot that would change for me to take public transportation, unfortunately. One major thing is that I am 20 miles away from where I work and there is no form of public transit available to me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Kristie Wagner 4/24/2019 7:57 AMI think the best way for me to invest in geothermal energy is advocacy and just teaching others what it is an why it's awesome! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseWhat did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?
Kristie Wagner 4/23/2019 9:39 AMI really like the idea of cycling land, so using it for certain crops in each season so that the soil has time to refresh and regrow. I want to try a 3 sisters garden on the deck of my apartment, and eventually get bigger as I have the opportunity to do so! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Kristie Wagner 4/23/2019 9:38 AMThat there are actually a lot of buildi gs in Milwaukee that are aware of and practicing sustainable practices with building and renovating than I thought! -
Kristie Wagner 4/22/2019 8:48 PMKeep up the good work everyone! We're almost there! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Kristie Wagner 4/13/2019 10:51 AMA lot of times its it's pay gap or a skill gap, at least in some perspectives. I think that people need to realize that women can do the same jobs as men and just as well! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social JusticeHow are people responding to the statistics you're sharing on social media?
Kristie Wagner 4/13/2019 10:50 AMMy friends are loving the resources I'm posting, and the news about women in science, especially about the recent photo of the black hole! Its It's importanto also look at what women are doing in science in addition to the statistics.
