REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsConcrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?
Michael Warren 4/24/2019 4:15 AMPossibly an alternative to tires and the production there of? If there was a way to use a combination of recycled plastics could be utilized since we are struggling to keep up with a recycling program in the U. S. -
Michael Warren 4/23/2019 7:44 AMReduce consumption and simplify whenever possible -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Michael Warren 4/23/2019 7:42 AMMy attitude and goal everyday is to give instead of get. I love giving back and helping others in my community. The constant acquiring of "stuff" not only gets old but adds stress to my daily life of maintaining and organizing everything. -
Michael Warren 4/22/2019 8:33 AMLove the silvopasture concept -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Michael Warren 4/22/2019 8:32 AMI have not heard of silvopasturing prior to this challenge but after watching lots of videos, it is certainly an interesting concept. I feel the biggest advantage of it is the full circle of life we can bring to the ecosystem. By manually planting or pruning trees and foliage for livestock and wild animals, we can help the environment thrive instead of leaving it up to chance and hoping the fields and forests will replenish themselves naturally. Great idea for sure -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Michael Warren 4/21/2019 5:15 AMConsidering the R's brings awareness to daily items such as packaging types and materials of products I consume every day. Choosing to buy bulk or fresh vegetables and fruits as opposed to canned or individually packaged makes sense. Less waste on containers and packaging means better environment -
Michael Warren 4/20/2019 10:09 AMI do like the idea of solar being integrated into our personal residence. The most important aspect to consider is the break even time frame. Installing panels if you plan to live in your house 10 years or less is not always a great financial investment.
