This challenge is helping me to be more cognizant of what I can do to reduce my carbon footprint and how I might contribute to helping my community reduce it's footprint as well.

Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

I imagine steel and aluminum production both have very large carbon footprints - from the mining of raw materials to their manufacture.

What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

if I can allow adequate time to drive and the distance is less than, say,  600 miles, i'd be more inclined to drive.   More to see and for me, often less stressful than airports!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I've noticed in my community and surrounding communities, a need for greater awareness for motorists around pedestrian crosswalks for improved safety and accessibility for pedestrians.    Motorists generally aren't interested or are confused about the right of way for pedestrians nor do they generally wish to yield to them most of the time.
