Refrigeration technology and refrigerant management are amazing fields. Never thought how ubiquitous the need for cooling is, so of course with increasing population this is a huge growth industry. But the negative impact on the environment of misuse of refrigerant chemicals seems to be potentially massive. I've had the refrigerant in my car and home AC replaced several times and will look for the "good management practices" people talk about to prevent this leakage. It's a sure thing that the cost of replacement refrigerant will be very high in the future so prevention of waste will lead to economic savings along with reduced negative greenhouse effects.

Cement that captures carbon seems like an emerging technology in 2019 with numerous products being studied, but none now available. Or at least not at Home Depot. Seems like the DIY market could be a place for early adopters since most of us are doing low-risk projects like porches and walkways. Will ask around how to get some.

I had no idea cement use is a problem, and I was about to use a bunch of it to fix a walkway in disrepair. Great timing and look forward to learning about alternatives. I recently dumped a refrigerator, and I think it was dropped off at the county recycling center but I'm not sure. Will learn more about refrigerant problems and spread the word on what I learn. Am wondering if this applies to our VAC system at home because these things can leak.
