REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Martha Williams 4/17/2019 6:25 PMI live rural at the beach. For errands, I can walk. For recreation I can walk or bike. To go shopping I need to drive, and I don't shop that much. I love to walk to the beach. I love to bike on the discovery trail. I love to drive the bay road. If I can walk, I do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Martha Williams 4/17/2019 6:23 PMOur history of the moving to the plains and increasing agriculture. Once we settled we had cattle, and as hunters we had deer, elk, birds. We also have money and like expensive items. Our religious dinners are meat: roasts, ham, turkey. Meat has always been the entre and vegetables/fruits/grains are side dishes. We are sometimes more purist in our eating and not mixing the different food groups together into one dish as Asian and Mediterranean do better. -
Martha Williams 4/03/2019 4:06 PMToday I continued shopping without purchasing anything in plastic packaging. It is not a pure process, but I can do fruits and veggies, meat and fish, and cheese, and buy bulk for grains/cereals. I am making my own cleaning products soon- castile soap. What I had to buy that had plastic was my cat's special case of food from the Vet, and lotion. I am learning to shop small, ask questions, try new stores, read labels and packages.
