I have been so remiss in signing in and following through L( But it's never too late. I have been doing my meatless meals, reducing waste, and will implement my recycling plastic bag program at work TODAY!

Trying to think about what I can do to avoid something going into trash or even the recycling bin.  For instance, using reusable containers instead of zip lock bags or plastic wrap.

Now that the nice weather is here, I'm going to get my bike ready and then starting biking to work.

I know I can do better but it is disheartening when others don't even try.  When I think that my efforts aren't worth it or adding up to much, I remind myself that if others are doing the same, it will have an impact.

    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

I'm very focused on recycling but by reducing and reusing/repurposing it is more impactful in the long run.   It does make me feel like I am helping improve the future, even more than recycling.  Need to keep it top of mind.  Even small things add up when all of us are doing it.

I am starting a recycling program at work. We recycyle a little at our office (paper mostly) but we still use plastic cups and throw them away after a single use.Every day, I also see single us plastic grocery bags in our kitchen garbage cans. These should be recycled. But second, I want to encourage people to think before even taking a bag from a lunch vendor (or from home or a local store) just to carry their lunch a handful of steps to the elevator bank and then to our work kitchen only to throw the bag out after one use. So recycle if you do take a bag, but maybe, let's not take a bag at all!

    Materials Choose Recycled Paper
Good job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?

A way to take my action further would try to be paperless at the end of this challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

Energy. All sources of energy seem to be a big factor regarding climate change (electricity, fossil fuels etc.) and that is why it is motivating me to change my behavior regarding food waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

I would use that money and put it towards furthering my education.
