  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

Unfortunately, for most people,  there is little thought about consequences until a bad event occurs or unless there is something that enhances the awareness.  Our food source has been chosen and marketed for Americans which is supported by many industries making a profit.  Profit took priority over the welfare of the humans being fed, our animals, and our planet. Our culture has not given priority to nurturing our bodies, minds and spirit in keeping with living in peace with the earth, animal, and each other. My prayer is that with time and education things will change and the earth will recover and the health of our country will improve.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

The worst part for me is not the waste os money but that there are people who do not have food and wasting it seems like an injustice to humanity. We are so busy during the week that we try to do our shopping and food preparation on Sundays.  This is fine but at times our weeks as so busy that the prepared does not get eaten in time.  Most of the time it is green leafy veggies.  we have found ways to prepare and keep food fresh longer but this is a challenge in our household. We have ben composting our uneaten food with our other veggie compost but it still disheartening to throw food away.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

I think all the above listed are important but the resources wasted water, energy and land are the most disturbing to me. It seems like the better we use our resources and allow our land to heal the healthier the planet will become.

Everything is going great and I have added a few more unplanned challenges Uncertain how to record them. It has heightened my awareness and made me a little more vocal when I see things that could be changed

Using money for good.  Time spent with loved ones.  Being helpful to others.  Focusing on staying in and sharing the “light” every day.
